We are all looking for ways to get out of the house in Macomb this winter! Fresh air is good for the soul — not to mention it helps to get the wiggles out of the kids. So we put together a list to help you find fun things to do this winter with your family in Macomb (or just a short drive away!) during these next few winter months in Macomb, MI:

1. Sledding at Stony Creek Metropark
Need a good place to go sledding once it snows? Stony Creek Metropark has two different places on their map for sledding. One is at the Gladeview Picnic Area, parking lots C and D. The other is at the West Branch Picnic Area/ Shelden Trails. You need a Metropark Vehicle Pass or a Daily admission pass ($10) to get into the park. An annual pass is $40 for residents and $45 for nonresidents. Residents include anyone living in Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw, and Wayne county
2. Outdoor Ice Skating at Frontier Town
RWB Parks and Recreation has set up a community ice rink at Frontier Town that is open now! You can skate at Frontier Town for free and then enjoy a cup of hot cocoa at The Daily Blend. There are no ice skate rentals available; so bring your own. Call The Daily Blend at 586-930-4800 for ice conditions.
3. Winter Guided Hikes at Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center
Bundle up and join the Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center for a Guided Hike on one of their trails. They have them every 2nd and 4th Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Check out their calendar here. You can also head over to the Nature Center on any day and enjoy a hike on one of their trails. Stop by the center for a map of trails to follow. They are open Wednesday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

4. Snowshoeing at Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center
When there's at least 3 inches of snow, the Nature Center offers snowshoe rentals. It is $6 per person for two hours to do a self-guided hike. You can have a guided hike for an extra $30. The rentals are available to use in River Bends Park from Wednesday - Saturday 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
5. Cross-country skiing at Stony Creek Metropark
Stony Creek Metropark rents cross-country ski equipment at the Golf Course Starter Building. You need to rent the equipment on their website up to 5 days in advance.
