FARE Walk for Food Allergy

Saturday, September 27th at Stony Creek Metropark

September 19, 2014
Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) is the nation’s leading organization working on behalf of the 15 million Americans with food allergy, including all those at risk for life-threatening anaphylaxis.  Their mission is to find a cure for food allergies, and to keep individuals with food allergies safe and included.

Did you know?
  • 1 out of 13 people with food allergies are children – roughly two in every classroom.
  • Nearly 40% of these children have already experienced a severe or life-threatening reaction.
  • The number of children with food allergies in the U.S. increased 50% between 1997 and 2011.
  • Every three minutes, a food allergy reaction sends someone to the emergency room.
  • Caring for children with food allergies costs families nearly $25 billion per year.

FARE works hard to ensure that every dollar raised advances their mission.  The funds support initiatives in research, education, advocacy, and awareness.  One great way to become involved and help support FARE is to participate in a FARE Walk for Food Allergy.  The FARE Walk for Food Allergy is a family friendly event that brings together thousands of people who are seeking a safer world for those living with food allergies.  FARE will be hosting a walk at Stony Creek Metropark on Saturday, Septermber 27th.  The day will include fun activities for the entire family.  Register today as an individual or start a team to help say FAREwell to food allergies!

We are excited to announce the Macaroni Kid publishers from across the metro area will be coming out in support of this event!  We will be at the park with a fun craft for the kids and some prizes to give away!  Hope to see you there!
